SOHO HOUSE GROUP
For the ever-expanding Soho House Group, events are a key part of the value provided to members. We first spoke to them back in 2008 about running lunchtime and evening events, and have been working with them ever since. Our remit was to to programme talks and workshops that were informative, inspiring, and facilitated conversations and connections between members.
What we did
We established a strong niche in events focused on the business side of the creative industries. While there are plenty of talks in London on the creative process and people showcasing their work, we felt that the nuts and bolts information was rarely shared. We developed two strands. The first covers skills that are essential across the creative industries: marketing, pitching and presentations, copywriting, management, finance, branding, negotiation and more. For the second strand we invite leading entrepreneurs and creatives to deep dive into their area of expertise – with speakers including Pip Jamieson (The Dots), Jeff Lynn (Seedrs), Paul Benney and Johnno Burgess (Jockey Slut), Joe Grossmann (Patty & Bun), Ossian Ward (Lisson Gallery), and Michael Zee (Symmetry Breakfast).
Attendances at the events have always been fantastic, and frequently fully booked. We’ve expanded number of events to four or five a month, and now run them at Soho House 76 Dean Street and Electric House as well as Shoreditch House. We carefully monitor feedback on our events, and use it to develop our upcoming content. This one of the most enjoyable strands we work on, and we’re proud to be a recognised fixture of the Soho House calendar in London.
