It’s common in the creative industries to work in a variety of roles – and Tayo Popoola has a typically diverse CV. After university he worked as a music journalist for Time Out, Mixmag and other magzazines, before using the free records he’d been sent to become a full-time DJ and promoter. He’s since been a presenter and producer for Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss 100, Ministry of Sound Radio and the Trevor Nelson Soul Music Show. He’s also worked as a music consultant for brands, and has had a documentary on “40 years of Punk” commissioned by Radio 2, hosted by Norman Cook, which will be broadcast next year. In this presentation with question and answer time he’ll talk about the essential skills for making it in music, radio and the media.
